Re-Listening to The Tetley

Sound installation and live performance composed of architectural sound recordings made throughout The Tetley during the gallery's final months on site, between late 2023 and early 2024. These recordings were captured as the gallery, after a decade of activity, vacated the building following its sale as part of the Aire Park regeneration scheme. Installed to coincide with the UKRiiF real estate conference, the work invites a close re-listening to the building, reflecting on the loss of the gallery ahead of its imminent conversion into luxury office space, a food hall and roof terrace.
The work utilises a speaker system recovered from the decommissioned public sound installation by Hans Peter Kuhn, which occupied Neville Street in Leeds from 2009 to 2022.
Re-Listening to The Tetley was exhibited as part of the artist-led visual arts festival Situation Leeds.
