RECORDING PERFORMANCE I
Leeds Art Gallery
Series of recording performances undertaken at Leeds Art Gallery using the context of the Gallery as a place of potential, while the space is in transition and closed to the public for a period of renovation.
The work draws upon the transformative nature of the Gallery context, which provides the physical framework for the viewer to be transported across alternate parallel dimensions of reality through their interpretation of the artworks. The work subverts the conventional relationship between the Gallery and the work of art, which it is designed to display. Instead focusing on the often overlooked architectural characteristics of the gallery environment, elevating its status through the meticulous recording processes used in response to it and through its re-presentation as an artwork.
